The Mate 20 X has been launched and it has one of the widest footprints seen on a smartphone in recent years. The Huawei Mate 20 X is the first 5G smartphone from the brand and it was unveiled last week in Shenzhen. With the introduction of this smartphone, the race for 5G dominance is heating up with various cities across the globe scrambling to implement this new spectrum. Earlier this year, Shenzhen launched 5G in various areas including its metro and Quianhai free trade zone. Several other cities such as Guangzhou already have 5G locales such as airports and Shanghai is expected to have its railway station with 5G coverage by the end of 2019.
The Huawei Mate 20 X is the brand’s first 5G beast and it supports both stand-alone and non-stand-alone 5G networks. What makes this device a notch above the rest is that its rivals currently only feature non-stand-alone 5G networks which mean they have to rely on existing 4G infrastructures for some functions.
Needless to say but the Huawei Mate 20 X is lighting fast and as per lab tests, it can touch speeds of up to 1850 megabits per second. While the speeds are definitely a major talking point, the size of the device is also garnering some attention. The Huawei Mate 20 X boasts a 7.2-inch display and is said to be great for watching movies and gaming. The iPad mini in comparison has a screen size that’s 7.9-inches which makes the 20 X almost as big as a tablet.
Other features of the Huawei Mate 20 X include cloud gaming in high definition instead of using an insane amount of the device’s computational power. Also, there isn’t any headphone jack here so you will have to make do with Bluetooth devices.
