US midterm elections: Donald Trump jolts, Democrats get majority in lower house

On Tuesday, the results of the mid-term elections in the US have started to clear that the Democratic Party will now be controlled in the lower house of the House of Representatives of the Congress. It is believed to be a trick for President Donald Trump. However his Republican Party’s upper house can remain in control in the Senate.

These results are expected to change the power balance in Washington. In the elections held in 2016, the Republican Party had a majority in both the Houses of the Congress, but now the result of mid-term elections may cause President Trump to experience difficulty in governing.

 

In the American voter’s mid-term elections, the 435 seats of the House of Representatives, 35 of the Senate’s 100 seats, the Governor’s 36 posts, and the voting for the seats of state legislatures across the country. The Republican Party currently has a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, and their team has left no stone unturned to campaign in favor of their party. According to political experts, there is a good chance of winning in the House of Representatives of the Democratic Party, while Republican Party Senate is expected to retain majority.

 

In the 435 seats of the US House of Representatives, the Republican Party currently holds 235 seats, while the Democratic Party has 193 seats. All constituencies of Pratinidhi Sabha are voted every two years. The Republican Party is expected to increase the number of seats in the 100-seat Senate. In the Senate, the Republican Party enjoys a minor majority.
