Colonel Purohit, accused in Malegaon blast case, has not get the relief

Colonel Purohit, accused in the Malegaon blast case, has shocked the court. The special NIA court has rejected the petition of the Colonel. In the petition, the priest challenged the sanction for prosecution under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities (UAPA) Act.

Special Court Judge Vinod Padalkar on Saturday rejected the plea after listening to the arguments of the Colonel and other accused lawyers. The court has fixed the date for October 26 for the next hearing.

It is worth mentioning that the Bombay High Court had rejected the plea of Colonel Purohit and others last month. In this plea, a special court was asked to stop the charges. In such a situation, the NIA had fixed the charges against all the accused. But the UAPA did not file the charge sheet due to the hearing.

Significantly, on September 29, 2008, six people were killed in a motorcycle blast near the mosque in Malegaon. While about 100 people were injured.
