Jinson’s Career :

He won the silver medal in the 800 meters event of the 2015 Asian Athletics Championships held in Wuhan with a time of 1:49.69. He also won three gold medals at the Asian Grand Prix in Thailand the same year.

Johnson qualified for the 800 meters event at the 2016 Summer Olympics by clocking his personal best time of 1:45.98 at Bangalore in July 2016. And meeting the Olympics qualification standard of 1:46.00. It is the third fastest time by an Indian in 800 meters.

He participated in the 800 meters event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2018 Commonwealth Games he finished fifth setting a new national record in the 1500 meters race.He did it by breaking 23 year old record of Bahadur Prasad.

Asian Games 2018: India’s Jinson Johnson claimed a gold medal in the men’s 1500m event, in which 800m champion Manjit Singh finished fourth here on Thursday.

Johnson clocked 3:44.72 sec to claim the top honors ahead of Iran’s Amir Moradi, who turned in a timing of 3:45.62sec. His season’s best effort.

Earlier, Jinson Johnson ran an excellently paced race to claim the Asian Games 2018 1500-metre gold as he fought off a slew of runners with a searing last kick.

Jonson Johnson had finished second behind Manjit Singh in the 800 metres but there was not stopping him as he clocked 3 minutes 44.72 seconds to claim gold.

Manjit Singh, who had such a great 800 meters, miscalculated his kick in the longer race and finished at 4th position.

Ending with a bronze was Bahrain’s Mohammed Tiouali (3:45.88sec). Manjit, who had stunned one. And all with his 800m gold, took the fourth position with a timing of 3:46.57sec.
